Program Overview

Shiloh College Health Care Aide Certificate Program gives you the skills you need to advance in your career. Health Care Aides play an important role in supporting the health-care team in long-term care, hospitals, home care, and community health-care organizations. They contribute to the quality and well-being of life of their clients.

Learning Outcomes

At Shiloh College, students will learn to assist safely with personal care, mobility, vital signs, and household management for individuals. Students will learn to recognize the physical, emotional, and well-being of the aging and many other patients.

Duration of Course

The Health Care Aide Certificate Program at Shiloh College is designed to be completed in 1 year (2 semesters). Our program offers flexible start dates to accommodate your schedule, with sessions beginning in January, May, and September.

Fast-Track Option: For those looking to complete the program in a shorter time frame, we also offer a Fast-Track Option. This allows motivated students to complete the program in less than 1 year, leading to quicker advancement and entry into the workforce.

Admission Requirements & Program Eligibility

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent: Applicants must have successfully completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or an equivalent level of education.
  • Mature Student Applicants (19 years of age or older):
    • May be admitted as a mature student without a high school diploma.
    • Must demonstrate:
      • Proficiency in English (ENG4C or ENG4U, or equivalent).
      • Other academic or life experience that indicates the ability to succeed in the program.
  • Additional assessments or admissions testing may be required.

Program Fees

The total fee for the Health Care Aide Program at Shiloh College is $2,000.00. This fee covers tuition, course materials, and facility access.

Clinical Placement Requirements

  • CPR Certification (Level ‘C’)
  • Valid Standard First Aid certification
  • Mask Fit Testing
  • Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector
Please note: Failure to provide any required documentation may delay or prevent participation in the practicum placement.
